Mariam ElShatlawy is an award-winning biotechnologist and science communicator with expertise in biotechnology, science advocacy, business strategy, and startups. Mariam is currently pursuing an MSc in Experimental and Translational Therapeutics from the University of Oxford and holds a First-Class BSc in Biotechnology with Enterprise from the University of Leeds. Her research excellence includes a first-author paper on drug resistance in non-small cell lung cancer published in Molecular Oncology with Professor Richard Bayliss. She won the UAE Social Action Award 2023 for her impactful COVID-19 outreach and was featured in Cosmopolitan Middle East for debunking vaccine myths. Are ELRIG events really FREE to attend? Yes ELRIG events are FREE to attend.
We are a Not-for-Profit organisation and put on these events to help our industry grow and prosper. Our organisation is made up of volunteers, and a small team of part-time staff.
We cover the cost of each event from sponsorship and stand sales. If you come to one of our conferences, please take time visit the exhibition and speak to our vendors.
How do I register to attend? Registration is not yet open.
How do I change / cancel my registration? When you first made your registration, you were asked to create a password : this password + your e-mail address will allow you to re-enter the system at any time, and update or cancel your registration.
If you cannot remember your password, follow the link to reset your password on the registration page
Delegates : What do I need to bring with me? Please save your ticket to your smart device or print a copy. Upon arrival at the venue visit the ELRIG registration and scan the QR Code. Your badge will be automatically printed. If you forget or lose your QR Code you can enter your email address to print your badge.
Can I register on arrival? Yes you can. We would prefer that register before the event but if you have not, you can register at the ELRIG registration desk.

Kayvan Richter is an accomplished communications and marketing professional with over five years of experience in the life sciences sector and a MSc in Molecular Medicine from the University of Sheffield. As Research Communications and Marketing Manager at Cancer Research UK’s innovation arm, Cancer Research Horizons, Kayvan leads brand development, marketing campaigns, and global strategies for Cancer Research Horizons, enhancing its impact in cancer research and therapeutic innovation. He has successfully overseen major initiatives, including the launch of Cancer Research Horizons and, more recently, C-Further—a groundbreaking children’s and young people’s cancer consortium in partnership with LifeArc.
Beyond his work at Cancer Research UK, Kayvan is proud to serve as an Engagement Strategy Work Group member for ELRIG UK. In this role, he helps shape strategic marketing and communication efforts, driving community growth and fostering engagement to support ELRIG’s mission and vision.
